Garda Youth Diversion Projects are local community based activities which work with children. These projects aim to help children move away from behaving in a way that might get them or their friends into trouble with the law. They can help children develop their sense of community and their social skills through different activities.

The Ball Project works with young people in the Ballybeg, Larchville & Lisduggan estates of Waterford City. Project Leaders: Pamela Farrell 087 2380257 and Matt Spinks 086 7703304.

SWAY Project Works with young people from 12 – 18 years old in and around St. John’s Park.

PACT Project is based in the inner city and Ferrybank areas worked with participants ages of 12-18 years. The project works primarily with Juvenile Liaison Officer referrals, but also with young people at risk in the inner city and Ferrybank areas. We work with young people between the ages of 12 and 18 who are at risk of or are involved in offending behaviour. Our catchment area covers the Sacred Heart and Dunmore Road neighbourhoods in Waterford City.

The North Suburbs Community Youth Project offers a range of activities and learning opportunities for young people between the ages of 10-21 years on a voluntary basis. The Project engages young people in a wide range of recreational, educational and developmental programmes. It provides a safe space for young people to meet in their local community.

This is a traveller specific youth project based on the outskirts of Waterford City. The core work carried out is facilitating the personal, social and educational development of its young members through a wide range of programmes and activities. WTYSP designs specific programmes of support on a needs led basis; identifying needs and responding to these needs with a holistic approach. Our overall aim of the project is to support our young members in developing life-long skills and to encourage participation and integration into the wider community. The defying feature of the project is its focus on educational support and encouraging young members to remain in the education system. The project operates on a part time basis.
